psychiatry, psychophysiology, and mind–body therapeutics. His work bridges modern
neuroscience with naturopathic principles, creating individualized care for patients navigating
complex mental health and brain-based conditions.
Dr. Watters brings nearly two decades of experience in natural medicine—from herbal and
nutritional therapeutics to manual therapy, emergency medicine exposure, and residency-based
clinical training. He specializes in the diagnostic formulation and long-term management of
depression, anxiety, trauma-related disorders, ADHD, and sleep dysregulation. His approach is
structured yet holistic, pairing conventional tools with botanicals, nutraceuticals, Ayurvedic
strategies, breathwork, HRV-based biofeedback, and skills-building practices that enhance
resilience.
He is committed to measurement-based care, integrating standardized tools such as the PHQ-9,
GAD-7, and PCL-5 to ensure clear progress tracking and responsive treatment adjustments. His
clinical philosophy emphasizes safety, therapeutic alliance, and transparent
communication—equipping patients with both clarity and confidence on their healing path.
Prior to joining the Sophia Health Institute, Dr. Watters built a successful integrative psychiatry
practice and completed a residency at the AIMS Institute, where he participated in clinical
research, IV therapy, collaborative oncology care, and multidisciplinary psychiatric support. He
has authored peer-reviewed articles and clinical reviews on psychedelic-assisted therapy,
botanical medicine, and the emerging science of consciousness and healing.
Dr. Watters holds a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine and a Master of Science in Ayurvedic
Science from Bastyr University, along with a Bachelor of Science in Integrative Health Studies.
He is also trained in psychedelic-assisted therapy through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute.
